5 Reasons YOU Should Become a Downtowner
The Downtown Development Association recently launched a new program called the Downtowner Program! This program is an individual giving opportunity to help improve Town Square in downtown Grand Forks. Why should you become a downtowner you ask? Well, here are five amazing reasons you should Become a Downtowner!
1. To make a difference in our community!
It can be hard to know where to start when you want to get involved or make an impact in your community. The Downtowner Program helps you make a difference, meet others like you, and even connects you with all the volunteer opportunities we have to offer!
2. To provide an amazing community space for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy!
We need your help to make Town Square a place for people from age 8 all the way to 80! There aren’t many spaces like this in our community. This includes making a variety of accessibility improvements, adding yard games and fire pits, and even outdoor fitness equipment to get a workout in! But we can’t do it without your help!
3. Because giving is good for you!
Whether it’s by giving your time or money, supporting causes important to you is a huge mood booster and can even help alleviate stress! By becoming a Downtowner, you can make an impact on both your community and yourself!
4. To honor the 25th anniversary of the Flood of 97!
After the Flood of 97, Grand Forks citizens were given the chance to envision a new downtown, & wanted to create positive spaces for the community. So urban planners suggested a town square where the community could come year-round to enjoy a variety of activities. You can help Town Square reach its intended potential for the community of Grand Forks!
5. To help shape the future of our city for generations to come!
Enhancing our community and what we have to offer is increasingly important for retaining future generations in our community. Having an interactive space like Town Square for our community to enjoy will help Grand Forks be an attractive and fun city to live, work, and play!
