In May of 2022, The Downtown Development Association was selected as 1 of 100 recipients nationwide for the Lowe’s Hometown Grant in the amount of $100,000. The DDA was North Dakota’s first and only recipient of this community grant. Through this grant and in partnership with the City of Grand Forks, enhancements were made to Town Square in Downtown Grand Forks to provide a safe and welcoming space year-round for people of all ages. The DDA is excited to provide a variety of placemaking pieces, programming, and activity to this space. These enhancements will not only benefit Town Square Farmer’s Market, concerts and other events but also create an active space to be enjoyed daily.

For our efforts in revitalizing Town Square, the DDA was awarded a Main Street Award from the Department of Commerce in 2024! We received the Healthy, Vibrant, Community Award which is given to a community or group that has made investments in projects that enhance the health and vibrancy of communities.
