Less Miserable

  • FireHall Theater 412 2nd Ave N Grand Forks, ND (map)

In this outrageous parody of the international sensation Les Misérables, Jean Valjean wants nothing more than to be less miserable in a world where everyone else is always overjoyed. After escaping a prison full of masochistic inmates, Jean Valjean tries everything to find joy – from raising a child to saving a man’s life – while Inspector Javert, a prison guard, follows him for years, trying to profess his love. A hybrid of Les Mis and Avenue Q, Less Miserable takes beloved characters and thrusts them into absurd, raunchy, hilarious situations to tell the story of one man trying to become a little less miserable. *This show is recommended for a mature audience as it contains some coarse language and mature themes.*

Less Miserable is the product of the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre’s first writer-in-residence, Connor Wielgosz. For the month of February, Wielgosz is developing, writing and presenting portions of the show alongside the Grand Forks community. Produced by Diana Chabai-Booker, this performance of Less Miserable will be presented in a concert workshop.
